Middletown Mania

Middletown, CT put on a bike event last night. Despite the best efforts of the weathermen predicting Armageddon, it never rained. 33% as big a bike turnout as last year, but almost as many spectators.
Here are a couple pics I took before I beat the tornadoes and hurricanes on the way home.

Murdercycles Luftwaffe

Chet has been seeing a plane fly over his work with German markings on it. In hopes that he would find out more about this flying mirage, he stopped at the local airfield and asked around.
The airport guys said there was one there. Chet asked if he could take a few pics, since we are WW2 airplane freaks.
They got in touch with the owner and set up a meet.
Turns out it is a mid-50's Luftwaffe Focke Wulf training plane.
The pilot invited Chet for a flight and even let him have some stick time. What a cool dude.

Return to the Milltown

Milltown Ink Lance put on another great weekend long event in Palmer. Didn't get to see many of the cars because of work on Saturday.
Did get to drink gallons of PBR and sleep in a car Friday and Saturday nights.
Here is what I was able to enjoy.





















Love this event. The camping overnight makes it a lot of fun. No DUI worries.

I know this blog has kinda sucked lately.
Having full time employment has cut down on my creative hours. Being in a club has also dragged down the free time associated with free form expression.
I once had many hours to harvest the intra-webs for cool stuff, now I am lucky if I get an hour online a day. Our five year mission will still be to seek out new life and new civilizations.

Liberty Belle B 17

The only things cooler than motorcycles are World War Two aircraft. The B17 Flying Fortress and P51 Mustang in particular.



There was a B-17 at Brainard Airport today.



Chet's boss, Tom Kittle, got a birthday gift of a flight in the WW2 bomber.



Two of the engines wouldn't start. Heavy rains got the magnetoes wet.



While we waited, we met an older dude wearing a leather pilot's jacket with campaign ribbons on it.



Major Wolcott flew B17s and B24s in WWII. First in North Africa and then in Italy. He said the B24 Liberator was a better plane, flew higher, faster and carried more payload, but the B17 was easier to fly and much better looking. Survived the Polesti bombing mission, the most dangerous run of the war. A true hero and gentleman.

If you know any WWII vets, sit down for a while a talk to them. Their stories are well worth listening too. They are the Greatest generation.
